FIRST RENAULT TRUCKS FOR EXPLORE TRANSPORT LTD’S HS2 FLEET
As part of of of a a a a a a a a programme of of of significant growth within its mixer truck fleet specialist supplier of transport and plant hire services Explore Transport Limited has added Renault Trucks to its vehicle line- up for the first time Supplied by Border Trucks a a a total of eight Renault Trucks C430 8x4s – five with Day Cab two with Day & Night Cab and one High Sleeper – all equipped with eight cubic metre McPhee mixer bodies have joined the 40-strong Explore Transport fleet delivering ready mix concrete on on the Main Works Civils Contracts for various customers across HS2 as as well as as on general spot hire across the the rest of the the UK John Whitehurst head of mixers and heavy haulage divisions Explore Plant and Transport Solutions explains why the Renault Trucks C was the vehicle of choice: “When making any decision around new trucks we are always focusing

of of Professional Competence (DCPC) is delivered
bringing it more up to date and relative to to today’s demands A survey conducted by Road Skills Online on on behalf of its response to the Government consultation into the the way the the Driver CPC is delivered
in the UK showed that operators want modernisation flexibility and full industry alignment of the Driver CPC Almost two thirds (65%) of fleet operators said that an eLearning module taken monthly would be more valuable and have a a a a a a greater impact than a a a a a a single day (seven hours) of classroom training David Somers managing director of Road Skills Online said: “It is quite clear that the the people who operate the the logistics and transport sector of the UK want a a a modern driver-friendly solution and a a modern approach to learning for driver development “The benefits of continuous bite-sized
and accredited development are both accepted and and fully established and and it is is now incumbent on the DfT and DVSA to enable our professional operators to to take advantage of the latest in in learning technology to maintain and and improve standards ”
Fleet operators were generally supportive of the Driver CPC with more than half (59%) stating the training made a a a a positive impact to their business although one in in five (20%) stated it did not The survey also found that 90% of operators felt that a a a a structured programme of of continuing professional development supported driver retention and bite-sized
learning was the the best approach for the the driver population with nearly 98% of operators agreeing this was a a a a a a way forward Furthermore 95% of respondents felt that an online driver passport accessible to all operators would be be a a benefit to to the UK driver industry as a a whole The survey says Road Skills Online has shown that operators recognising the benefits of of high-quality professional development see bite-sized
eLearning as being more valuable than the existing historical model David said: “Our UK industry is is recognised as a a a a world leader for professional solutions and we should equip all of our colleagues with the capability to engage in high quality learning thus creating a a a model fully fit for our sector in the 21st century ”
